We played 4 basic football games down in my area in Fla

2 completions=first down. usually played on concrete or streets. but also played in grass.

or

4 hard=no first downs, you get 4 downs to score. usually played on concrete or streets.

or

kill the carrier=1 ballcarrier vs everybody on the field. only goal is to score. if you get tackled you punt/toss the ball up and go tackle whoever fields it. played on grass.

or

500=a qb calls out a point value (100-500) and throws the ball up for the catchers to try to moss everyone else. when you get to 500 points you win and become the qb. played wherever.

we shortened alligator to alleys before we pass rushed. 1 alley, 2 alley etc. Perm QB's and the 2 catch= 1st down.

WE DEFINITELY PLAYED PASS RUSH...

YOU HAD TO COUNT OUT LOUD...
ONE, ONE THOUSAND, TWO, TWO THOUSAND
THREE, THREE THOUSAND
AND RUSH ON FIVE THOUSAND.

BEFORE FIVE THOUSAND YOU JUST
GUARDED THE QB AND TRIED TO
BLOCK HIS PASS ATTEMPT

we definitely used these rules. But, we were also lucky. There was this church up the block from us that had awesome dimensions for football as they had a large field they used for extra parking on Sundays.. The church had a side door that led to the back of the church where it's kitchen and shyt was. So there was a paved walkway. So that was endzone and then on the other end was the regular sidewalk made for another endzone. There was a giant tree in the middle off to one side that served as an inbound line. Basically if you ran to the right/left and were beyond that tree you were out of bounds. On the other side we had sidewalk so if you went into the sidewalk you were out of bounds. You basically had 4 downs to get from one endzone to the other. It was great times.

We used to do 5 Mississippi pass rush until we figured out a better way - you had to run back to your own endzone so you could activate the pass rush and then run back. It was the most practical way to limit easy scoring opportunities when the offense was inside the ‘redzone’, as you could quickly take a couple steps backwards once the ball was snapped and then rush the passer. It was balanced out by the offense having more of an advantage the further away from the endzone they were.

I do find it funny that the only good thing that ever came out of Mississippi was its name being the widely recognized pass rush rule for all of America.

It's been a while for me too. I don't remember any pass rush lol. Probably everyone just playing wr and cb.
I remember having 10 seconds to get a pass off, afterwards there were a couple of cats coming with some type of rush/blitz, cat playing QB had to sometimes turn into Randall Cunningham :mjlol:

Rules depended on where we played.

Small area the size of a basketball court? "First down" would be like mid-field and you had 4 chances.

Bigger field....don't even remember but it would switch up. Couldn't imagine playing tackle with no pads now. Shyt was nuts.

The hood nikkas knew I was nice on defense with the fly paper hands. Other brehs would come play and they'd be like "why you pick Urkel?" They was like "just watch."

PICKED OFF!!!! Run Nikka Run!!!! I usually caught at least 2 bombs a game because dudes that didn't know always assumed I was slower just because of the glasses. Loved watching "athletic" nikkas start arguing and fighting with each other on the other side when we jumped on em.
