I honestly believe that if Mase never retired he would be bigger than Nas and Hov

And I say that as a nas fan. He was on fire in the late 90's dropping hits everywhere, the guy was on his way to GOAT status.

A feature with mase almost always seemed like a guaranteed hit too.
Dude just had the magic touch at the time.

If he would've switched back to murder Mase like what he was supposed to do on the second album he would've definitely be a problem in the game

I doubt he would have been that big.

He could have kept his career going if he'd wanted to though. In the 2000's you could have heard him on Neptunes beats and people like Fab, Jadakiss, Loon would have had less opportunity to shine because Mase was like a more mainstream, likeable version of them.

Arguments like blatantly ignore the evolution of hip hop. They also pretend like Double Up didn't happen lmao. That corny shiny suit shyt was phased out by DMX in 1998. A year later the biggest rappers were finding a nice balance between mainstream (or party) tracks and street shyt. Nas had Nas Is Like and Hate Me Now. Hov had Big Pimpin and the Mariah Carey song. DMX had What's My Name and What These bytches Want. Mase had...

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

It was over. Admit. Maybe Mase could have re-created himself and his image, but does anyone think Diddy would have been effective helping him? And if he left Bad Boy...that wouldn't work either so...

Cam moved away from Mase and Mase music went downhill at a dramatic rate....coincidence ? not for me to say.

Them Lo Lifes...
Nah he had "it"

Thats what put him in the conversation moreso than his actual rap skills (which were pretty top notch as well not Nas and Jay caliber tho)
When you heard Mase rap..you didnt think he had next up..

If anything, Puff positioned him to try and fill the void Big left within Bad Boy....

Nah

Mase had the streets on fire, nikkas was dressing like him, talking like him. The girls wanted to fukk etc

Homie had the intangabiles. Like I said moreso than the pure rap ability.

Nah fam. Ma$e was on his way out by the time he retired. This is facts. He dropped that Harlem World Project (his group) and nobody gave a fukk

Then Double Up came out right around the time of his retirement and nobody gave AF about that either. Like he had zero buzz. And the style he was associated with was dated and on its way out and being replaced by harder shyt like DMX, Ruff Ryers, Big Pun, NORE, etc.
