It really gets funny when the college football guys are briefly home for summer break and decide to drop by the dojo and try a free class.

Of course since they see the word ‘Karate’ they automatically come in and can’t wait to show us how much “MMA” they’ve been watching.

Oh, and don’t worry about them keeping up with the class since “I'm in shape because I play football bro”... *chuckles

Haven’t had one to make it through an entire class yet. They ALL drop off and leave, or sit on the floor against the wall, humbled, as class continues. And they never forget KYOKUSHIN.
How can you train for those high kicks?

You haven’t been humbled till a cat throws a check
Hook that doesn’t hurt but just surprises you but y’all both know you’d be snoring if it wasn’t sparring.

And he’s barely winded while your lungs is on fire.

That’s normal. Use mitt work more for your accuracy, foot work, defense, and building your rhythm. Constant mitt work is what actually helped me get my slip game to :whew: .

Ain’t no shame in going 40-50 percent power on those mitts to get your accuracy right. Power is like the least important thing when thinking about mitt work

Y’all cats who are great at heavy bag tend to be guys who can hit hard but struggle at getting decisive blows because defense, foot work, spacing, and angles don’t matter against the bag.

Funny story is that tennis actually prepped me a lot for boxing and boxing is the reason I probably improved so quickly at tennis.
I read that tennis is actually the most physically demanding sport or intensive along with boxing since you don't really stop moving and receive limited break periods.

It’s pretty damn tiring. Cats don’t realize how hard it is because it isn’t a contact sport but playing a 3 or 5 set match in triple digit weather with an equally skilled player?

My longest match was 3 hours long.

Whole thread is jokes. When I boxed, I found out that it's a whole lot more dependent on technique rather than talent. You could be the most talented nikka in the Milky Way, and still get dusted by Rodney with the pube beard because his technique is impeccable.

I was naturally good offensively, but my defense was asscheekz. I could light someone up with a feint into a right hook, but my reaction time was delayed as hell. Like, I would know what type of punch is coming, but I just couldn't move. I could straight see it coming, but it's like my body was indecisive.

I think it's ADD, but Idk.

Put it this way

do you have the desire to beat someone to unconsciousness without thinking or caring about whats in front of you

and

can you train by pulling a few rounds with defense only, not throwing one punch... just getting your shyt rocked over and over?

I thought I was about that organized boxing life until I kept getting setup against opponents with tiny ass brains
1. you gotta shut down their little ass brains
and 2. They dont have regard for shyt in life, when the bell rings they are like animals

I love to fight but setting up fights against a group of braindead nikkas is a nightmare
you have to go through it to feel me...dudes out here with see through dead eyes, just basically muscles punching and shyt :russ:
