I think I was pretty spot on here.Goff's problem is that he folds like a chair once you knock him outta his pre snap reads and play script.
His ball IQ isnt high enough to know that are times it's better to MANAGE the game versus WINNING the game.
I like Mcvay alot but this tendency falls on him. Mcvay develops a culture where it's all about the big play and that the game is best won when the offense is on the field as much as possible (see all the punt fakes the rams have done this year).
Not saying hes wrong but for a young QB still finding his identity, that creates a side effect of developing a mind state of not trusting the D, locking eyes downfield, and not anticipating sacks (all aspects Brady is the GOAT at).
Second half of the Eagles game, the Rams tried to give Goff more check downs to avoid the pass rush but we had too big of a hole to climb out of and the special teams threw the game away.
Goff has the ability to be a Rivers-Level QB but his decision making is catastrophically bad at times. Gotta work on managing the game to make that leap.

Detroit Goff has the benefit of a stellar O-line and great Backs in Jamaal Williams and Swifty. Detroit is pretty committed to a balanced attack on offense and that keeps Goff from having to carry the lions share of the O, something McVay asks his QBs to do way too often. LIons O Coordinator Ben Johnson will be getting HC nods this off season, best believe.
Theres also the element of Goff playing with house money. Lets face it, Detroit as a franchises has 0 expectations so the pressure of having to be perfect, like he was expected to be in LA, simply isnt there.
