Sean McVay makes all the pre-snap reads for Goff. The headset communication is allowed to stay open until there's 15 seconds left on the play clock. Goff isn't really "reading" the defenses. SeanMac tells him what's going on and then Goff gets to the line and throws where he "should" based on what coach tells him.
With Belichick, that doesn't work because he's constantly disguising and changing things up. You can't really figure out what's going on until the ball snaps. A QB that actually READS defense (like Pat Mahomes), can pick apart the Pats easily. Notice how once the Chiefs got locked in and just let Mahomes do his thing, he ate that defense up. Goff knows what he's gonna do with the ball before he snaps it. That works if the defense is static but you have to adjust on the fly with Coach Belichick.
Dak outplayed Goff in the Divisional game. Cowboys lost by 8 and gave up almost 300 yards rushing. Goff didn't really do much because he didn't have to. Cowboys D didn't disguise anything and the Rams knew exactly what was coming...which is why they knew exactly when to run versus throw. A lot of people seem to love him, but I never understood why. He went from absolute garbage to being good after they switched coaches. I think he'd still look rough with a more average coach. Switch out Dak or Wentz for Goff, and the Rams win that game. The NFL desperately wants him to be a star so they can market the Rams/LA, but he just doesn't seem to have "it."

They said today that the Rams we're breaking the huddle at 15 seconds in the bowl. Mcvay didn't want to be going against beli at the line and allow him the adjust so he switched it up this game. You see what happens when you take the kid gloves off goff
To be fair, belly has been going against this offense since bill walsh, he’s seen it all. Neither mcvay or goff was ready.

Your whole offense is based on tempo and keeping the defense off-guard, and in the biggest game of the year you do the opposite and sit back and slow it down just so Belichick cant be in the LB ear
