I Joined SOHH When I Was 14

I turn 34 this year. Probably had six or seven different SNs over the last couple of decades.

This obviously doesn't deserve its own thread but this shyt really just hit me. This board and its predecessor has essentially outlasted all of my real life relationships.

Yup I joined when I was 15 I’m 34 now. I remember posting about 9/11 on sohh. And you are right it is true. I don’t even twlk to people I went to hs or college with. And all my exes etc. but I still see familiar names from two decades ago

I joined SOHH when I was 14 as well. Basically the summer of 2001 before 9/11. I was an inspiring rapper that would practice horning my skills in the versus trying to battle other rappers with key styling. Plus I was looking for somewhere where I could express myself and say things that I couldn't say in person because I didnt feel I had anybody around me to say that shyt to at the time. I was also looking for help and didnt know where to go or who to ask. I knew my parents couldn't help me, my school didnt care, I felt no one cared so I was depressed, hopeless, and was very angry too. It made me go against the grain which ultimately led to me understanding and accepting who I am as a person. Made me not want to be a part of the crowd and chill around other people who basically wasnt into the bullshyt and nonsense.

Luckily, offline, I started to have a bit of a support system and developed the courage to open up to other people about the things that I was venting on sohh/the coli about. It also made things easier being that the same issues I dealt with became mainstream where I found out I wasnt alone. So really, time helped in the end.

I feel even if folks dont contact me regularly. We all are still cool regardless because we all dealing with the same issues or similar issues where theres an understanding to a degree. I'm still going through it but I'm slowly moving forward and progressing as slow as it has been so....
