My theory is that as marriage becomes more and more unrealistic due to black women not making good potential wives, casual events have to become more extravagant for them to not feel like their missing out.

Baby showers turning into giant events, expecting push gifts, expecting expensive girlfriend proposals.

All of this is because they know the real grand experience, a wedding, is never going to happen .

When I was younger and encountered guys who were surprised some girls didn’t have a kid because *gasp* we were raised to not have kids out of wedlock, we didn’t actually go out with those guys…and we didn’t assume they were a reflection of all young Black men.

I get it. As what I assume are the actions of a single mother, this is the culmination of years of struggle to get their kids to this point it becomes not only a celebration for the kids but the parent themselves.

However the optics just don't look good. Its like those people that peak in high school. In our community it should become and expectation that you graduate and go on to bigger and better things.

This just seems to be another one of those things we'll have to deal with until fathers/parents step up and say. "No we aren't spending 25k on a graduation we are going to set our kids up for a bright future. Whether that be college, seed money for a business, or a down payment on a house. Tangible things that will ultimately set you up for a life not just one day.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for the kids having fun just not at the expense of the greater good.

Illegitimate babies, highest criminal records, lowest college attendance, low literac rates, high unemployment rates, low median income etc. You're trying slander those black girls but the average black male is in a worse position.
