Try to invest it. But buying property isn't going to happen with just 4k, too many dynamics, UNLESS you have the credit and other paper to go along with it. Put it in a savings account and keep adding on to it. Retirement, or pay your bills off. Me personally, id spend like 500 on myself and use the rest to pad down bills.

1st off you have to be approved for a home loan

I don't know what your credit score is like either or what else you have saved but you have a real shot at buying a home. Just have to pick the right market with realistic expectations. I'd look into foreclosures and possible houses I could fix up a bit.
