You'll realize how much you really want to do this when you bomb....and you WILL bomb. Just take it as a learning experience, like Dave Chappelle did at the Apollo, and K.I.M.

In the meantime, I wish you success in your career choice if you choose to pursue this.

this is so true.

:lupe: i'm still trying to face down my fear of getting booed off stage...the silence is pretty bad but I feel like them boos might make of break this for me.

I did ok I went up on a whim it was one of those now or never moments, I didn't even know what I was going to talk about nervous as fukk those 8 - 9 mins felt like 8 to 9 hours but I got a few laughs and afterwards the other comedians gave me my props now that I got that first out the way I'm good. I got a attitude and stage presence I'm going to work on hopefully in the near future I can have videos of my work so yall can critique it I know yall gonna give me the real deal.

Feeling like a :boss:

good luck breh, do you come out to your own theme music too? :smugdraper:

My worst bombing was the first time I ever got a good spot at the open mic i started at and I performed to silence for 3 minutes with people looking at me like :comeon::huhldup::wtf: when i got the light (1 minute warning to get off stage for those who dont know) i said "yeah thanks I can't wait to get off" which got a laugh then i performed to silence for the remaining 58 seconds. It felt like shyt I woke up everyday for the next week thinking about that shyt and just randomly throughout the day it would pop into my head and i would cry a little on the inside.

i think getting booed off wouldnt be as bad to me. the silence kills me cause im wondering "what the fukk are these people thinking right now?" at least if they were booing i would know exactly where they stand.

yeah I've heard this from other comics. I just want to get it over with but hey, i'm no rush to get booed off stage. hopefully it'll never happen :D but I doubt that.

I saw a nikka get booed off the stage so bad that when he tried to come off, they booed him back on.

You A successful comedian breh? :rondo:

Success if relative :lupe:

"is this what success all about
A bunch of nikkas acting like bytches with big mouths"

I have a similar thought process to Chappelle. I'm cool with fame, but at what price?
I haven't done enough to "back away" but I'm not pressed to be in the spotlight either.

I feel I could do a show, turn heads, then disappear into the shadows :manny:

I've always been a funny guy, grew up watching Looney Tunes, SNL, took 6yrs of theater arts. Basically I was groomed for this shyt. Yeah, I'm sure I could hold my own. I haven't tried in 10yrs, but I seriously see myself getting back into it once I figure out some things. Like how am I gonna use this extra 4gb of RAM :dwillhuh:

I'm starting to watch a whole bunch of stand-up routines and documentaries and reading books about stand-up comedy I don't want to be 1 dimensional comic. Hell I wanna tell jokes to preschoolers to folks in retirement homes I want to cater every audience I can.

Nah, I never did it on that level. Im the nikka who everyone I ever known tells me how funny I am. I don't do shows, but I've spoken infront of crowds and did the damn thang. I understand the rush ill was talking about. My biggest problem was I settled down at an early age and dreams n shyt jive went out the window :yeshrug:
I'm at a different point in my life now where I "could" try to pick up where I left off. I still want to, but I'm not ready to dedicate all my time to it unless I know its gonna pay the bills. Otherwise, I might have to slang CRACK inbetween shows. I'll find a better way...

Thats not easy for a lot of folks to appeal to all ages. As for watching others, its a double edged sword. The ones you like you can see techniques but the issue is not everything works for everyone. So pick up on shyt, but don't fret if something that works for the next man doesn't work for you. Once you find your own stride, all that other shyt is secondary. You biggest obstacle is getting comfortable with your own act. Developing that. What state you performing in?

What up yall I haven't performed much since my debut (only twice) so I haven't had anything to post but now I think I'm in for it sink or swim time........

(if yall don't know by now I'm the Ice Cube looking motherfukker!)

This show is about to be a REAL test for me, here are the facts......

1. I've only performed stand-up 3 times
2. We get 15 mins for our routines
3. They put a nikka 1st so I gotta set the tone for the show
4. It's a rated PG-13 show
5. It's a hometown show.

How do I get myself into these things.

Can we a start a pool based only on the people on the poster who will bomb the worst?

I am going to go with "punchy" just based on an awful nickname to discern you from the other Anthony Anderson. He also looks to be trying that Katt Williams look out on top of it.

I offer you the best of luck at the show, but if you bomb, oh well. Pick yourself up, keep some of the material, and work on better material. I know it can take a person anywhere from 3-4 months to 3 years to come up with a solid routine that will keep getting people to laugh consistently.

I could never do it to be honest. I do a lot of writing(short stories, attempts at novels), but I could never get up in front of people and attempt to do stand-up. Singing? Possibly, but not comedy. Biggest thing I think is a plus for my writing, and hopefully you can do it too, is knowing when what you wrote sucks. If you can't see it yourself, you are going to fall hard when others tell you it is terrible.

That dude is the headliner I've never seen him perform but I've heard he's very funny.
