Naw...
I've been listening to Jay-Z heavy since I was 18, and I'm 31 now...
I identified with him as a brother...

Now when you say as a brother...do you mean like a sibling? or the whole general "you're a black man" brother? Either way you are being extra dramatic. Acting like he betrayed you somehow because he picked up an interest in something other than jewelry in a 13 year span...

and not to come at YOUR head specifically, bu when you have nikkas that have this general mentality that you exhibit here, you see why people who flow with where their lives take them end up disassociating with people.

You are sitting here talking about you are HURT because you can't seem to fit an artist (of all things) into the confines of your own little reality box. It was funny at first but the more I think about just how limiting your perception probably is i'm more concerned than anything.

:merchant:

And now to see these 2 drastically different sides and catering to 2 audiences it's kinda disturbing...

The shyt you are typing is disturbing.

I think a lot of rappers that have turned into rich businessmen have 2 sides...

Yall nikkas never heard of human beings?

:why:

What I mean is if those people probably NEVER have heard ETHER in their life...
And if they were to hear it today they'd wonder who the hell it was about....

My point is just that this thread is specifically calling out jay for "the dualities" when he is not the only one who does this

True..

Which is why I don't see why people are so defiant and defensive over the concept...I also don't see why folks are offended by it or just now recognizing whats going on...

People want to pretend that things such as a "blackcent" don't exist.. Or brothers don't talk about putting on their "corporate voice"...Even the same Black professionals that are working down on K Street don't act the same as they do when they're at a barber shop or a pick up basketball game with their brothers...Jay is just REALLY good at making white folks feel comfortable...Probably more so than any Black rapper in the history of hip hop..So it makes sense that he uses his natural born talent for soft shoeing to his advantage in the business world...We all have to do it at some point...

He just does it really well and doesn't have that "man fukk this corny cracker sh1t" chip in his brain that a lot of brothers are burdened by...Being true to yourself and keeping it real is a handicap in the game of American capitalism..The more successful a minority is, the more they've had to bend over to appease white folks...Me with my 70k a year job has had to sell out and swallow more sh1t than my cousin that hustles and is in and out of the system..

^^^^^^^

Did I just drop a gem?

Naw all Im saying is in his raps he is all about "black excellence" but IRL he threw damn near all his black business partners and artists in the bushes and put his name n face all over a project that's directly negatively impacting the black people in the very town he came up in

If dude is all about the $$$ first thats cool, just dont talk that righteous pro black shyt if u(he) aint bout it bout it. Dude's resume doesnt match the pro black shyt he tries to kick, but since he is rich n black we give him a pass for the bullshyt.

dog every time you type you sound more and more stupid.... he dumped all his black artists in the bushes for more black artists...so whats your point?

so Puffy aint pro black because he dumped G Dep?

so fifty aint pro black because he dumped G unit

so Nas aint pro black because he dumped Bravehearts? are you really this stupid?

so you are hionestly telling me If I go into business with another black man and its not working I should on no account sever the business relationship?

you speak from the point of view of a person that has never had to make a serious decision in your life....

Please tell us how your resume and what you have done in your life matches up to the pro black shyt youre trying to spit right now?

I swear i hate dumb smart nikkas ....... always trying to kick knowledge rather than read a book and gain intelligence

This is a stupid thread made by a stupid person. Think about it. Instead of looking at this man as an example of what you can accomplish if you truly dedicate yourself to your craft, yall are busy tearing him down and questioning his every move. Hate JayZ all you want but think about it...He married the mother of his child, lil wayne got 36 baby mammas. He always preached owing your own business and lil wayne still gets an allowance from birdman.

It seems like people want JayZ to be that father figure that walked out of your loser life but because he's living the life he wants its a problem. IDGAF what he do. I only care about the music he puts out. period. My real father is still in my life so when I wanna learn about what its like to be a real man I just call him

The sickest thing would be if he was a dude with multiple interests, like imagine if he actually liked baseball, basketball AND football :whew:

He might like both Jeezy and Warren Buffet, at the same damn time.
He might like Atlanta and Cannes, Malcolm X and Obama and on. None of these things contradicts each other.

He's Che Guevara with bling on, he's complex :umad:

i do not usually defend jay,but
it has to be hard to be a successful rapper (i know the money,women,etc...rappers have not much to complain about)
but once you're successful, it seems inevitable that you'll loose a portion of your fans and be labelled a 'sell-out'.
you are in limbo
being successful means that you hang with 'different' kinds of people and yet you have to keep those street ties or you loose day 1 fans

nas put it best:

'Can see myself in presidential campaign dinners
But I’m passin’ blunts around a bunch of gang members
When you’re too hood to be in them Hollywood circles
And you’re too rich to be in that hood that birthed you'

successful rappers are in a 'no win' situation imo!!!

So being black and successful and respecting art and being an entrepreneur makes you white. And not proud to be black. Unless you live or at least act like you're still in the streets. So in essence you want him to not do what the fukk he wants with his own time?

Do you Coli nikkas/cacs really have no sense of self worth? Close this bullshyt ass thread.
