i feel like he's just starting to make personal records, he hasn't had alot of them in the past. it usually just was lyrical flexing and braggadocious raps. his last two DJ Drama tapes were in that direction. Budden has been making music like that his whole career, even Game & Meek Mill got personal records. when artists make them kinda songs i respect them more, it's much harder to make them kind of records.

This is precisely it. Bank's music isn't confessional/autobiographical. But that doesn't mean its not personal, its more that he has already thought through his experiences and presents his conclusions in more general terms. Less autobiography, more philosophy you might say.

EDIT: talking primarily about his recent joints, obviously. Style switch-up around 2010, less punchlines these days, etc. etc. etc.
