You probably know from my posts, I'm a HUGE Celtics fan. Been a fan of Pierce since '01, Bill Russell is my favorite old school player

I was a huge fan of the Celtics title run from 2007-2013. I watched basically every game they played. And I must say, DOC RIVERS IS OVERRATED

Doc Rivers doesn't coach, he just gives speeches
During his whole time on the Celtics, he ran only two predictable plays. Run a Pick and Pop with a point guard and PF, or run a screen play and a curl with a SG. And if all else fails, just run real fast and hope you're open

Josh Smith hit those 4 threes and a drive to the basket, took the momentum away from the Clippers. And Doc had no answer for an adjustment. I bet in the huddle, all he could say was "Play harder!!!! :damn:"

Not a single competent play called the whole 4th quarter :francis:

How the hell did that Celtics team win a chip you ask, with Doc AND Thibs on staff?

Garnett, Pierce, and Ray. I keep tellin nikkas they coached themselves :heh:
this....Doc's coaching always been suspect only reason the Celtics were potent was because kg's shyt talking turned them nikkas into super sayains:lolbron:

I don't get how you can be a C's fan and say "he doesn't coach, he just gives speeches"...set plays after a timeout was a hallmark of Doc's Celtics...he consistently drew up a productive play smh

fukk all that, Doc is properly rated...it's just that it's a player's league and always will be.

He's overrated in the sense that I don't think he's elite or legendary like some prop him up as, but I think he's a good coach.

coaching is all about

bench management
player management
time management
game management

less so on the X's and O's, except on specific set plays. Doc is specifically good in the ISO world and allowing player to create within the offense

something Thibs tries to do but doesn't have anywhere near the personnel to do it and lacks offensive plays

Besides AI and Mutumbo, who was actually so great on that team?
And besides AI, who can actually create their own shot? :comeon:

Who cares? They won 60 games and made the finals. The fact you are comparing them to an awful squad led by Pierce, Wally Zxherbiak, Telfair and blaming Doc is laughble. Bu..bu...but they boo'd Doc! So what? They are miserable entitled cacs. They boo everyone

Depends on how you rate him. I think he's definitely one of the top 10 coaches, maybe top 5. They've had to play Austin Rivers, Hedo Turkoglu, and Glen Davis decent minutes, and they beat the Spurs and still have a shot against Houston. He fukked up by leaving Griffin and Paul in way too long last night, though.
