I don't get how you can be a C's fan and say "he doesn't coach, he just gives speeches"...set plays after a timeout was a hallmark of Doc's Celtics...he consistently drew up a productive play smh

fukk all that, Doc is properly rated...it's just that it's a player's league and always will be.

Offensive coordinator =/= Great Head Coach

He's a top five coach. Just because he spent the better part of a decade having to motivate Rondo and play peacekeeper doesn't mean he's just a cheerleader to his players (ahem Mark Jackson). He just doesn't get the cap and his bench/team has suffered for it.

I dunno,it's hard to judge coaches but I've always liked his sets for the most part.
Jordan improved by leaps and bounds in his tenure and most of his tactics and adjustments in playoff series have been on point. Plus I hear people calling him overrated enough that he can't be THAT highly rated (since so many ppl think he should be rated lower)
He is one of the 4 current coaches that has won a chip
Is he a top 4 coach? I don't know.
But he is a good coach and I wouldn't call him overrated.

This doesn't address what I posted. You said he just have speeches...I can't see how you came away with that impression being a Celtics fan during his tenure

Cause I watched all of his games from about 2006-2013 when he was on the Celtics. Never said he sucked as a coach, just not that great. Middle of the road
He was blessed with his situation
I swear people really think he brought something great out of that Celtics team that wasn't already there :wtf:

People forget, that Celtics team wasn't just great, they were legendary. All 3 Hall of Famers, exiting their prime, who played like rabbid dogs to get as many rings as possible, goldy passing on offense, Top 10 defensive teams of all time on Defense
Pierce with the one on one moves, Ray the greatest 3 pt shooter ever, Garnett the anchor of their defense. Had a nikka amazed :lawd:

That team shoulda won more than 1 title. Cause of Doc not knowing how to make in-series adjustments, player rotation, having predictable offensive plays, cost them alot of series losses. Celtics up 3-2 like 4 different occasions after their 2008 title, and all lost, and you mean to tell me a more competent coach wouldn't make adjustments and deliver? :damn:

Think about this carefully before saying anything further. If you are saying he's middle of the road, then you are comparing him to the rest of the coaches in the league at this time. If you watch the ENTIRE NBA, and not just one team, then you would know he's at the top of the pack as far as coaches go.

If you want to analyze his shortcomings without relation to other coaches, fine. But claiming he is "overrated" or "middle of the road" is by nature based on comparison with his peers. There are mostly bad coaches out there measured without reference to others.

I'm not comparing him in relation to other coaches in the league. I'm saying he's a average/good coach, but not great or influential. What are you talking about? :dahell:
