Those cats are what you want in a tag team. They come off as dangerous but they're charismatic as hell. There's nothing to dislike about them honestly

No matter what they did in the other gimmick (if we're talking about the last thing they did right before this), they wouldn't be as good as they are now. The gimmick just didn't allow it. On the contrary, they probably won't ever be as over as they were then with the colorful fan friendly characters.

They may be hitting their stride. Even if/when they go back face, they need to be allowed to be themselves id this is what we get. They came off as two cool, releateable dudes who happen to wrestle.
