It is. Getting Adams with that pick also relies on other GMs not picking him. That's something Presti can't control. For all we know Presti picked him because he was the best available talent at that spot, not because he knew he would be good.

And it kind of doesn't matter. That trade ultimately cost them Durant because he felt they couldn't win a title. And it looks like OKC won't be winning one in the near future while Harden and Durant probably will get multiple. That's a massive fukk up.

That's a hell of a stretch breh. You would have to apply that logic to every draft pick ever and not credit any GM for anything.

Agree with the whole second paragraph though

Last I remember, OKC was up 3-2 on GS at home when Durant went 10-31 in a closeout game then ran off to Cali. That OKC team definitely could've won championships with Durant/Westbrook/Adams.

In addition, I think you're putting the cart in front of the horse with Harden winning multiple championships. Paul is gonna be 33 in May, the wheels can fall off at any time

Not necessarily at all. He had a year left on his deal and they gave him a low ball offer. Told him he’s got one hour to decide if he wants it and said no. Next thing he’s told is that he’s been traded.

They didn’t low ball him. The deal OKC offered was pretty above standard for a bench player. OKC fukked up choosing Ibaka over him but eventually Harden would have left. As we see now he’s too talented to be pigeon holed into a sixth man role

They could've kept all of them(KD/Westbrook/Ibaka/Harden) if they would've just amnestied Perkins. That was silly.

CP3 gonna be fine for a while.

Them being up in the series clearly didn't matter to KD. He bolted. He doesn't see it the way we do.

Happens all the time. Sometimes teams make picks because it's the consensus pick and if a guy doesn't pan out they won't get raked in the media for it. Sometimes they think the guy is solid and are surprised he's that good. I highly doubt Presti knew Adams would be this good. He's fukked up a lot of other draft picks and trades so I don't believe he's some savant of talent evaluation.

He found all three in the top5 of the lottery. Come on y’all overrated him with the eye for talent. He took what was in front of him. It would all be different if Portland takes Durant instead of Oden
Westbrook was seen as a reach at the time and Harden was never seen as a sure thing.

His biggest mistake was choosing Perkins and Ibaka over Harden.
