Nah, fukk old gatekeepers. Let the young people decide who’s worthy of being hot.
That's low-key the issue, you let the market be dictated by kids and you usually end up with a dumbass product cuz the average kid ain't on shyt for real.

The culture in general still doesn't know what to do with older artists promotion wise because everyone's been living their 2nd childhood so long they don't know how to do anything else, just listen to the silly shyt they talk about in interviews instead of giving people a chance to be taken seriously.

To expand on your point and Ebro's: the full ecosystem is fukked. The music industry ecosystem has let fans dictate the direction instead of the other way around.

Labels, "journalism", DJs, marketing is all geared to whatever is hot right now instead of development, curation and overall quality.

I really started getting into music in the blog era around 2006. Whatever was posted on The Smoking Section, 2 Dope Boyz, Maurice Garland, Cocaine Blunts, etc I was giving my ear to because I know they didn't just post random shyt. On top of that The Smoking Section was doing long form profiles and interviews. The game done changed now. I barely know how to get curated music suggestions now smh
