Shot spotter is a system used to pinpoint gunshots. It can triangulate the approximate area and time a shot goes off and will get the cops called. A lot of cities use it

Some of it probably. A lot of times someone shoots in the air and nothing is hit. And are long gone before cops arrive.
Here in stl they don't even respond to gunshots during 4th of July because so many shots are going off at once. I believe we use shotspotter here too
