Kanye is one of the greatest producers of All-Time...

Yeah, he had other minds with him in the studio once he changed his style but are we gonna act like Kanye didn't produce nothing but classics dolo for years?

As an MC he has many characteristics that make him dope. Kanye rocks shows, has vocal talent, charisma, wit, can mix and mesh styles with anyone. Kanye hung with Common live in a battle how many MC's can do that. Don't fool ya self because he has ghostwritten material.
Not to mention we have references of Kanye putting his vocals over beats and freestyling, seeing how the songs are going to flow and what not.

That's because he didn't. Kanye's classics didn't come until Blueprint and up to Late Registration. That's his era of solo classics. Everything during that period wasn't classic. Even then he had his weaknesses which were his drums. Beginning with Late Registration, he started to become less hands on with the production.
Why are you denying Kanye's classics just because you don't like them?
I mean just MBDTF will most likely go down as the best album of the decade, or at the very least top 3.
I don't have to like an album to acknowledge it's a classic.

I'm not denying anything. Everything Kanye produced by himself wasn't classic. For starters, he has a lot of beats on BP2. Most, if not all, are dope, but would you call those classics?

MBDTF is irrelevant because I clearly wasn't referring to that album in my post. It was in response to another poster talking about how classic Kanye's solo productions were. MBDTF is clearly not solely produced by Kanye vs. his work on College Dropout.

agreed both are subpar emcees, kanye just has more dedication as an artist and he thrived in an era where skills no longer matter for the most part. noone took him seriously as a rapper when he was producing because he wasnt that good. he has put together some good albums but he and most of his minions have somehow mistaken that to mean hes actually a good mc.

I first started thinking this around 2010. the gulf in their talent in terms of actually beatmaking and writing is obvious (in that Diddy never even pretended to try/Kanye had a classic run coming up). then I watched this again and it was uncanny tell me this isn't some MBDTF-era Ye shyt:

the delivery, lyrical theme, sung bridge, orchestral section roaring samples, over the top production in the video, descending from the sky accompanied by doves...

more alike than a lot of people excluding Ye think

that's pretty much Kanye.

When you're a trash rapper, you have to be over-the-top, rely heavily on image and association with more talented/respected acts

Kanye West is responsible for classic and near classic albums. His music ushered in new eras in rap. Having a team isn't a strong enough parallel between he and Puffy to call him a 2.0. Puffy rides waves, Ye starts them.

I will say 1 thing, Kanye can actually write however he's not a very good writer at all and has always relied on others for help. Puffy probably has never wrote a damn line in his life lol

didn't he write all falls down? hard for me to say he's not a good writer if he's capable of writing like that.

Yeah, he wrote it. But he still had Rhymefest and Consquence helping him out during that era

Kanye knows how to make good music (pun intended) but as far as rapping goes, he's average at best. Even with all great music he's made, as a rapper, he's never been impressive to me. He ain't no Biggie, Nas, Jay, Face, etc etc
