I look at Kanye as a Puffy version 2.0

I've always been a fan of his but really Kanye never struck me as a great rapper cause he isn't, even with all the co writers he's always had helping him and while he actually knows how to produce and make beats, that's where the version 2.0 comes in. Puffy was never the 1 behind the boards really producing except for Jodeci's "Come and Talk to Me" remix. But Puff always had his production crew The Hitmen producing the hits. Puff just had a pulse on what was hot, similar to Kanye. Kanye, outside of the soul sped up samples, has always had a handful of help with each and every album, specifically after The College Dropout

But at the end of the day, Kanye is just an upgraded Puffy

So in that sense. You're correct.

Puff and Ye both also really know how to put together a solid cohesive album. They understand that well.


But ultimately Kanye is more musical. And has managed to stay ahead of the game for the majority of his career.. Probably the best ear in hip hop ever.
