Ironically, the oddest thing about moving up the corporate ladder is that the higher you go, racism can become lessened or mitigated.

Case in point, think about a sports GM and the coaches that they hire. They only have so many times to screw up the hire before they get canned themselves. It's easy to find a layman to clean up, sweep and stock aisle 7. Not so easy to find a person such as myself for a healthcare company than a person with an mba in healthcare management, bachelor's in accounting, an active CPA and superlative ability in Excel.

Skills pay the bills, even in the face of racism and perceived prejudice. The kicker is that you have to rise above some of the fray to get to this point.
