i think we simplify what it means to be a good story teller. yah jay is not very good at a 3 act story in the space of a song but are you trying to tell me he didn't build a strong story over the course of a reasonable doubt? granted he doesn't do it very often. jay's main story telling ability is building a meta narrative and that is why when it is all said and done he is a fraud

No, not really.

As mentioned in here, Jay has done (much) better stories than that...but he only does good personal narratives.
"Meet The Parents" was him ham-fistedly trying to tell a story about something/someone that doesn't feature himself.

Nas stans active on the Internet who still spend their time hating on Jay (yes that's a special group of geeks) are so dumb that they need it to sound like a Harry Potter soundbook for them to understand that it's a story. He just doesn't tell them in past tense, Einstein. But particularly Jay actually went through and did shyt in his life so his stories are about him.

For example Devils shyts on your favorite rappers story, he could change a few words and "I" to Nick and you imbeciles might've understood that it was next level story telling about how D' evils affected him from his youth to his street days.

Other than that he also has songs where you can maintain a below average iq and still understand that it's a story.
