No they were saying this is why people need to tip because if she did not receive tips then she would only make $9.21 for 72 hours of work.

Are you retarded?

If she served everyone in this thread she would probably only receive tips from two people based on the replies.

That’s factually inaccurate. In every state in the US, if a tipped employee’s wage after tips are counted is below minimum wage, the employer is required to make up the difference so the hourly rate is at least minimum wage.

Everyone sounding off about the hourly rate needs to read that.

How do you get paid $2 per hour? Isn't the federal minimum wage 8.75 or something?
They can pay you less if you work for tips. Which why i said this isn't why we tip, this is because we tip.

Some people out there are bad tippers, thats how the game goes. If you wanna continue with the system, things like this will continue to happen.
If you want it to stop happening, instead of asking people to tip more, we should make employers pay a fair wage.
A tip should be treated like a bonus, not your base pay.

They do. The employer has to top up their salary to minimum wage if the tips don't do it.

In this case, she hid the tips line and showed only her base salary to get everyone to :cape: for servers

Server entitlement is worse than spoiled children :camby:

Im shocked no one noticed this...she literally glides over her tips around 20 seconds. And thats only the ones she reported.

I always tip because I used to work in cosmetics and we got tips, but I never felt I DESERVED a tip. That mentality even as a person who was in the service industrt bugs the shyt out of me

thats still less than $13/hour .. :francis:

and damn near double minimum wage. If she wants to complain about being under paid ok. But to present this check like she had a take home of 9.21 for 70 hours is bullshyt and misleading.

And I don’t think this accounting for cash tips, only what was pulled off of cards.

If minimum wage kept up with inflation and productivity it would be $24/hour.

The productivity point is misleading. And ignores the realities of supply and demand. If you can produce way more widgets, it only matters up to the point that you can sell all the widgets. The productivity calculation also ignores the fact the jobs can now be done with less people.

That woman is an idiot. The more in tips you make, the more the $2.13 an hour (or whatever tipped minimum is by state) is taxed. You could make 5k in a pay period and your paycheck would look like that.

If she was really getting bad tips she would have gotten minimum wage make-up. Not alot because minimum wage is bad, but it would be more than $9.28

This stuff is the reason why I am glad I am no longer in the restaurant industry and rarely do dine-in because you get stereotyped right off the bat.

Why are people just now realizing what I said a month ago:snoop:Media outlets posting this like waiters making Chinese labor wages and they all jumped on it.
