I make everyone I interview solve this math problem. And if they can't, I won't hire them

I would never expect my grandparent's time period to be any thing like today. Ridiculous hiring qualifications aren't new, so I guess I'm a little desensitized. I interviewed with 10 people over 10 days and that was just the first round. Luckily I didn't make it or else I had another 5 or 6 to go. I'd rather take an assessment lol

That gots to change, or else you have a Banana Republic with hundreds of millions of poor/homeless people.

The Service/Information economy with outsourcing manufacturing, was a monumental mistake :francis:

What can be done to change it?

What can be done to change it?

Bring Back unionized jobs, so that masculine males can make a living wage again, at large.

Punish American car companies that dont open more factories. Foreign car companies who have operation in America need to unionize, as well.

Cut down CEO and executive pay back to 1970s level.

That's admirable, but I was talking about as individuals. All the things you named require some sort legislation and government just doesn't care about people like that, especially America.

Tbh the longer you have been out of school the less likely you will be able to solve these problems. Most people don't actually use this type of math in my experience.

Honestly, I feel people use it regularly, they just don't realize it. It's all about identifying the unknown or simple algebra, which happens daily.

If you need $500 and you have $200 in the bank, how much more do you need? 200 + x = 500. Stuff like if you want to lose weight or save money by a certain date. You have to identify the unknown to solve an issue.

This aint fair tho, pretty sure theres dudes on here, like me, who used to see and do puzzles like these all the time on facebook.

Good point. This isn't so much of a "do you pay attention to small details?" problem as it is a "have you seen this type of problem before?" problem.

Dozens of people have pointed out that they missed the horseshoe and boot change, but I've seen so many forms of this exact type of math problem on social media, and expected it.

This really only tells a potential employer how addicted you are to Facebook/Twitter/etc.

:ld: and if they take too long, I still won't hire them.
I got 21

Horse = 10
Horseshoes = 4
Horseshoe = 2
2 boots = 2
1 boot = 1

therefore 1 + (10 • 2) = 1 + 20 = 21
