Then again idk who would be hurt more, him with lacking first party software/AAA Titles (minus PS+ which you'd both be able to eat off of with PS3/4/Vita) or your wallet buying the proprietary components for it

Plus if he fukks up in school you can take it/keep it and take it to work w you and Remote Play with the PS4 if you have one

I second this. Target near me had them on sale for 85$ for an OG 3ds and 100$ for a 3ds xl last week. there are deals to be had, and your kid will appreciate it much more than a 25 year old system you probably paid around the same price for.
