I miss being able to walk up in a Hollywood video store and renting a game.

thats probably most of them are anti social as hell even though they have access to talk to more people online than ever before. Their real world transactions with regular people are few and far between it seems

this really only applies to PC only gamers....Then and Now I hate to break it to the master race but PC only gamers tend to be some sorry souls :yeshrug:

People were making the same correlations between video games and anti-social behavior in the 80s and 90s that are being made about Internet usage today. If anything the uproar about gaming and it's long term psychological effects on children was much more extreme. There was legislation going all the way back to the early 80s to ban arcades because people thought kids playing games would negatively impact society, and even the Surgeon General at the time was advocating against allowing kids to play video games.

This guy is 100% right.

In some aspects they were right. Childhood obesity has skyrocketed since the 80's and there's a growing epidemic of socially-retarded kids out there that wont be able to function in society.

Obesity has sky rocketed for all Americans.

Do you have kids? Please post scientific data of this epidemic of so called socially retarded kids.

I rarely play games anymore, but I have a xbox one which is just a $400 netflix machine :snoop:

I got in a video game mood some time ago and wanted to grab a few titles to play for a bit. I was like "where do nikkas get games now a days?? I know we ain't dropping $60 a pop for everything"

Gamestop used prices are hit and miss (I use to be the chief at the used hustle, buy EVERY game used, even if it was brand new and priced at $58.99 instead of $60, if it's wack you can take it back within 7 days :lolbron:)

I don't mess with mail services like gamefly, and the redbox always has like 2 games.

Downloading from console is always the full price

Luckily, in the midwest we got a joint called Family Video, took the top spot when blockbuster went out of business

Gamefly is pretty good to me. Takes about 2 days to get the games in the mail.
They sent me an email to resubscribe for a month for $1 and I'm tempted but I forgot how long it takes to actually get the game to me

A lot of it depends on where you are. I am in KY and get my games from Pittsburgh. The best thing to do is cycle the games so that by the time the next game comes in you are about the put the other one in the mail after being done with it. The 2 game plan works best, but you have to be dedicated to playing a lot of games quickly in order for it to make sense. Always have 1 in transit is what I have always done. I get anywhere between 8-10 games a month because I just throw a lot of games into the list and keep it moving. Don't waste time trying to only go for 1 game. An average rental for me is about $2.50...pretty good.

Such a different era now, but I feel you. Going to blockbuster or game rental stores and seeing a new game on the shelf that you never heard of and picking it up based off the strength of the box art alone:banderas:

I been seein a few Hollywood Video buildings bein' turned into other businesses.

They just take the video part of the sign off.

In Champaign, someone bought it and turned it into a liquor store and called it Hollywood Liquors

Blockbuster.

Such fond memories of being a wee-lad and renting an N64 game or two with mom/dad.

SMH at there never being enough new releases.

SMH at there never being any game manuals.

SMH at people hiding the good stuff behind random lame games to save for a later date.

SMH at the shiesty rental policies.

SMH (vertically) when you find a new release at the check-in/drop-off pile.

Blockbuster.

:russ:

I feel like every time I went to Blockbuster to look for a movie I would be there forever not being able to make up my mind

I miss that
