This cut here got a lot of cats jumped, especially if you was from Palmer Park where Sugar Ray Leonard grew up. The DJ had to be real careful when playing this song. I remember two of my very best friends (RIP), both outta the Park, got jumped partying to this song. What's so bad was, the party was right next door in Kentland. Ray Leonard caused a lot of jealousy in the metro area back then. I still remember when he got back from Montreal after winning the gold. It was on live tv, and the news crew were outside his house in Palmer Park, but we never saw him. I just remember the journalist saying that he was getting word that some of the neighbors wanted to fight Ray. That's when I found out how sick we can be as a people. But to be honest, that didn't even surprise me. But today, I realize how cheesy it was to even report that on live tv.
Anyway, my two buddies got chased from Kentland all the way to Palmer Park, just because they were dancing to this song. One of my buddies was tall and kinda on the muscular side, and fast on his feet, while the other one was tall and very skinny, who was a long distance runner in high school, but not known for having speed. One of them got caught. But each told me the other got caught. Guess who I believed. Btw, I just found out about eight years ago that I'm a distant cousin to Ray Leonard. First I was thinking I wished I knew that back then. But when I really think about it, I probably would have experienced way worst than my two buddies.
I remember this one brother was actually boxing to this song. I'm sure they got him straight later on. I know you old schoolers remember Sugar Bear from EU.
