He had CRAZY HOT YEARS:whew:... so hot a couple of rings were won and a hall of fame seat awaits, but Hakeem was a non factor in the Magic Bird Isaiah Jordan years(which spans most of his career)...facts:comeon:

Without the rings Iverson Barkley Ewing Wilkins Miller and Drexler are in the same conversation as him

didnt the rockets make it to the finals against the celtics. Also Drexler got a ring.

Look, you wack prick, the nygga wouldn't have won shyt had Jordan not retired in the first place. Very easy to understand that..even for a lowlife dolt.
Jordan played in 1995. The Rockets won the title in 1995. What part don't you understand you simple ass fakkit? You need to stick to wrestling and porn, basketball knowledge escapes you.

Do I think he's one of the five greatest players ever? That's tougher... but do I think he has an argument for greatest center ever? Sure.
there it is

THAT is where to me, he is grossly overrated. because he is not worthy of being in THAT conversation to me. i don't think he is on the same level as shaq, kareem, wilt, for the reasons I outlined. The gap between those 3 and the next tier is pretty signifigant to me. I don't see how hakeem is clearly better than moses malone or willis reed on paper either.

for players i've seen, hakeem is second to shaq, followed by robinson, zo, ewing, etc

I've said it forever, I'm not sure how Hakeem is clearly better than Moses Malone historically.

Horrible thread. You can't talk about watching games back then and hype up Thorpe, Maxwell, and Kenny Smith as some kind of great scorers and like a large part of the reason they were getting numbers wasn't due to the attention Hakeem drew. Not to mention even when his offensive game was still unpolished he was still putting up 22 and getting 3.5 blocks and higher and 2 steals a game. Even before the Dream Shake years he was considered an absolute beast.

i don't think i said they were great scorers. i said they averaged X amount each which is exactly what they were...

he was not considered an absolute beast 'before the Dream Shake years'. Well respected but what you're saying is a reach.

I personally think the center position has a lot of variance depending on what you value. Shaq was of course a dominant force, but really... if you're just looking at their primes, you're looking at a guy that averaged 28/12 versus 25/12... with the second guy being a vastly superior defender.

I've always felt Wilt is an anomaly, because I think he'd be dominant in any era... but his era was pretty far removed from what we see today. I personally don't see what separates Kareem from Dream if you switch eras.

People always forget that shaq couldn't be your number one option late in games, because of his free throw shooting... which is why he's always trying to re-write history with that 'I made them with it counted:shaq:" propaganda.

And as far as 'on paper' goes... well, he's not that much better than Bob Pettit on paper... but I have a feeling he would have given The Bombardier that work.

Like I said, agree to disagree. I happened to think Shaq was the best center ever for a long time, but as I have gotten older, and seen more players, I now allow for a lot more wiggle room when it comes to that stuff.

The rockets faced the celtics in 81'...they drafted Olajuwon in 84'. And yea drex did get a chip at the end...but with or without it he still stands toe to toe with Hakeem:yeshrug:

I can't take Hakeem over Shaq, I just can't. Defense doesn't offset Shaqs pure, sustained offensive dominance for me
Anyone would pick Shaq or Jordan to kick start a team with over Hakeem...wtf are these nyggas smoking..lol
