And who benefits from that? I dont see how either side does. Feel free to educate me.

I'm just saying no one put a gun to his face when he signed that deal in 2021. Trade market is crap for a 36 year old injury prone player who wants an extension or can opt in for 52 mill next year.

And no one put a gun to Pats head and forced him to keep dude this summer when all of this was known and he still had more value. That value is only dropping. And if it drops too much, like you just said, they will be stuck with him another year.

I understand it from Riley. Sometime just letting a big salary walk is better than trading just to trade. I can't see any team giving up anything valuable for a 35 year old injury prone player who wants a huge contract extension.

I'm not high on anything Golden State could send back to make salaries match. Houston is interesting for sure. OKC has the picks but not the contracts to match so I think they'd have to get another team involved. But that is the type of win now move that I could see them making and Jimmy would be a great fit on both of those teams.

This is how he acts but never gets the blame because he's an "underdog" and "gritty". He's played 14 years and made $250+ mil. He beat the odds. This is the 1st situation where the organization is just as well-regarded as him so he can't rely on the incompetent org or immature players to control his narrative. It'll be funny to see how this ends because this was a success for both parties, it just didn't translate into a title.
