The purpose of ghost writing is to not take credit for writing something. Why is that lost upon 99% of the people posting in this thread?
I mean.....of course Will Smith wrote Summertime, I bet he wrote (wink wink, nod nod) all of his albums.

Don't understand how this concept is going over peoples' heads. The point of ghostwriting is for the writer to not take public credit for penning the song. A lot of cats are actually paid more to not reveal that they did the writing.
People forget about this now, since Dre's history of having ghostwriters is so well known now. But a big reason that Royce and Eminem's relationship back in the day got so strained because Royce's manager revealed that he had written on Chronic 2001. The whole point of ghostwriting is not to reveal that you did it - a lot of these cats now who are ghostwriting and revealing so are messing up their money
I don't mind rap having ghostwriters though, in general. I think the voice is an instrument in rap the same way it is in other music, so it isn't all about lyrics anyway. But when I heard Nas had Jay Electronica and dude from dead prez
