Dallas, Texas but living in Houston, Texas
shyt broke my heart when I was trying to move to Charlotte and lost out on an apartment. I knew it was different when that happened. Crazy thing is they approved the apartment then called me when I was heading home to tell me they made a mistake and said I wasn’t approved because of something on my credit. That had never happened to me before. Credit definitely means something.
Happened to me as well years ago. I figured as long as you had a good rental history and made enough money that getting an apartment shouldn't be an issue. My credit wasn't horrible but still got denied.

Breh, I just woke up, maybe I’m sleep walking and dreaming right now.

Two nikkas in this thread really just said credit scores don’t matter.

I’ve had jobs check my credit score, but they don’t matter? :mjlol:
*brehette (baby d getting tired of getting called a breh on here)

AT&T checked my credit when I went to finance my iPhone a while back. I was like oh word?

Credit scores are just an indicator. No financial institution/lender base their decisions on your credit score.

Credit scores are meaningless.

The lack of shame today is wild. I wouldn't expect kids/friends to be mean but all the "exhibitionist of disorder" shyt wouldn't be funny if more people simply cut through the bullshyt and made these people feel bad. In this case, by mentioning their own scores, or scores of people they know, or what their parent said about what's a good and bad score etc.

Kids will rise or fall to the water level surrounding them. If everybody is failing the class, everyone is fine with failing together. If you're the only person failing, everyone else is poised to graduate except you, and the class clown shyt you entertained them with initially is no longer working...suddenly you're compelled to better yourself or truly fall beneath the cracks.

They don't.

Lenders use aspects of your credit history to determine whether to provide you credit, differing depending on what their business model is. They don't just look at your credit score and go oooh look, 900+ give him what he wants! They want customers who they can generate money from, the approach and method to which is different from company to company.

Defaults, late payments, consistency of the previous relationships you have with financial institutions, utilisation of credit limits, who you've obtained credit from in the past, etc, etc.

If you think your credit score has any bearing on their decisions then you're a fool. It's just an indicator presented to you by the credit reference agencies, which they'll leverage to sell you products or help to improve your score.

I am sure a financial coach such as yourself can make anyone earn enough to make it true :troll:

not my problem. I only financed a car at 18 and realized how stupid it was, paying for anything on credit (money you dont have) is foolish.

I should edit it to,

Credit scores are meaningless, if you living right.

You literally can't get a credit card or loan; buy a house, apartment, or car without a credit check/credit score good or bad. You can't even get a cellphone from a carrier without one

These people have no idea how anything but Coli daps work:pachaha:

I agree for most people credit score does matter for the reasons u listed above.

I know for me, I essentially no longer need a credit score (mine is 825) as I already am locked in on my mortgage at 3% and my car has been paid off a couple years. so unless I'm planning on buying another property or move, I essentially don't need to borrow money.

if I were to get another car, I would need credit to finance a car ONLY if the rates are favorable (they aren't now). If the rates stay being terrible, I'd buy my next car outright. but I'll cross that bridge when I reach it some years in the future.
