i never said it was exclu7sive to one race, but I'm saying from my point off view. Growing up, I didn't know one nikka that had self esteem problems. Even the nerds I couldn't tell. I'm just saying I was surprise to see it here online.

But who knows, maybe nikkas around me were just putting on a front.

They were.

We all got an issue or two..or three...especially growing up in this country. I sure as hell have my issues maybe not self esteem but I do have my demons and insecurities. Im not all the way there and Im aware of it. But when I come out into the world I put on my game face or Ill be eaten alive.

I agree some people in this forum need help.

Fairly normal for humans to have some insecurity or hangups about shyt and Black men aren’t any exception. Ours just tends to manifest in different ways.

Depends how old you are, theres definitely been a shift thanks to the rise of social media and theres alot more shyt to be insecure about. Seems life is a lot less easygoing and more image concious.

I read somewhere that most americans have at the least 3 forms of mental illness with women being the most prone to multiple illnesses

I know for a fact alot of black people have PTSD if u look around

I don’t like taking pictures because I hate the way I look in them.

Insecurities are as natural as any dark emotion from anger to sadness and dealing with them is a naturally growing up process.

When they start to control you and have you acting in the hormonal way that some posters act, it becomes an issue.

I don’t know why Black men are expected to maintain this facade of being 100% confident at all times.

In a way it's a good thing. Black Men used to never ever discuss their thoughts and feelings when it came to self esteem and mental health issues. Usually until it was too late and they got sectioned and basically became a zombie dope up on medication.

It's embarrassing to admit for many of us brought up on the idea of black male masculinity and always having to be seen as 'tough' You can't play that role 24hrs a day.

Also factor in social media. I would hate to be a youngin in this era. If you ain't poppin or at least pretending you are online. There will be no play for you.

I have seriously recommended CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to a few guys on here who were showing signs of really losing their mind like Dr X. I used to have my own issues with self esteem a few years ago. But I feel those sessions cleared those and it's pushed me on to be better, take more chances in myself and career and of course be more successful with women.

yeah....maybe social media has a play in this. These dudes probably read the shyt that's said about black men online from other races AND black women and then it just breaks them.
some people need to take a break from social media and pop culture
