he was extremely smart, he had great control, benefited from an expanded strike zone

i think it was in an interview on lebatards show where he said by the end of his career he could literally hit the catchers glove without it moving 9/10 times

cool story about maddux from the padres broadcast crew:"Maddux would have relatively highly attended bullpen sessions between starts. A number of fans would come early to certain games just to watch him throw a bullpen. During these bullpens, sometimes someone in the bullpen would throw a towel over the catchers mask to put on a show for the fans. The bullpen coach would give the catcher a heads up when the ball was about halfway to the plate so he can catch it. Maddux would hit the catcher's mitt every time."

Wherever whores go.....
This plot isn’t the final location of the ball; it is the movement of the pitch compared to a pitch thrown without spin. Also, negative x values mean the ball is breaking in toward a right-handed batter. Now you can see the beauty of the Glavine change. It has exactly the same movement as his fastball does; the only difference is in the speed of the pitch. No other pitcher has a change so similar to his fastball. Because of the smaller speed differential, Glavine’s change is going to produce more weak balls in play than strikeouts at this point, but he still can be effective with it. This is borne out in the counts in which he uses it.

Great Post Season Pitcher

Glavines Strike Zone was from one end of the Batters box to the other end.

Shyt was hilarious that it only took for him to Pitch for the Mets for the League to figure him out, just hit the ball the other way.

I give him credit, he learned to adapt. Started Pitching Inside. He was good pitcher for them, Kind of feel bad for him that he got bombed by the Marlins to close out Shea Stadium

:heh:He was a very different pitcher by the time he got to the mets.
