This gig is dishwashing but i dig the place and it's possible to work my way up. Trying to get back into the service industry because it's such a big part of my ultimate career as a comic and a business owner. It's also one of the best ways to make money in my city.

I'm the type of person to just go in, keep it real, and accept the consequences. What excuse can I give, tho? I overslept and my phone was dead is a pretty bad story. How would y'all play it?

edit: i missed work because i ain't pay my phone bill and I overslept.

Yes. Dog, I've been a dishwasher off and on for a couple of years (basically whenever I need some extra cheddar)... as long as you still want the job (which in reality deep down inside you don't, trust me) they'll let you work. I've worked in like eight or nine different restaurants, and usually as long as you don't miss three days in a row you're straight. Just hit them with some bullshyt excuse like your dog got lost or something. Dishwashers (and employees in restaurants in general) come in and out so frequently that nobody is really trying to fire one unless they're well out of line.

Save yourself the walk of shame and not go back, cause anything short of walking in with papers saying you were in a hospital bed in a coma you're going to be fired

somewhat related stories.

i was working at a restaurant when i was on break for college.
i was working with a father and son so the 3 of us were in there doing what we had to do.
the father had a watch on so i would always ask him what time it was and he would just look at his watch and never tell me what time it was.
turns out he was illiterate and could not tell time.

i eventually moved up to prep cook and this dude on the line who i was roommates with briefly flipped out on a waitress and smashed her plate of food on the ground.
then he said he was gonna fukk her and her man up...he got fired.

this one African dude worked as a dishwasher there for a quick minute.
one day he had enough i guess because he walked out in front of the line where the waitstaff get the plates...he pulled down his pants and boxers and yelled out "you can all suck my dikk!"
then he left.

that shyt was awesome.

go in and start cooking on the line.
tell the cook to wash the dishes.
demand a significant raise.
:dead:

OP.. just play it off like you mixed your schedule up between there, and your other job..

No joke, I actually thought about doing this. It's not too far off from the actually story I was going to give them.

:mjlol: I have no shame. And this ain't some hella professional position, it's just work. I am one of two people that speak english. And I've been fired before. that's not going to crush my spirit or anything.

You can be a good human being and have a shyt job. A lot of us straight up refuse to play the whole rat race game. You are not what job you are. Actually to get to a "good job" you have to be sociopathic. Thats not having your shyt together.
