Hmmm...I do enjoy that album. His tour with Mary J Blige was decent too...

But I dunno where I'd rank it ...

May be 4th for me personally.

My favorite Jay album is Vol. 3. Then I gotta give BP1 and RD their love.

I honestly don't revisit AG as much as I do his other work

fair enough, i respect that :leon:

the black album hasn't held up well at all

there was a lot of hype surroundin' that album and since the dust has settled, well, the dust has just settled

american gangster holds well and stands the test of time, the black album doesn't outside of a couple of songs like allure, justify my thug, encore, 99 problems, and threat

american gangster >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the black album

no comparison
I used to think this as well but I bumped that shyt at the gym the other day and to be honest I think its great. I was always underrwhelmwd by it even when it debuted. Some songs are still a lil light for me like encore although dope production and change clothes. But the second half is piff as fukk. I actually have it as a classic now. Probably his most satisfying album as far as impact.

see, it was the opposite with me. i use to really like the black album but as the years have passed, i don't think much of it outside of a few songs like threat, justify my thug, 99 problems, encore and allure. oh yeah, psa too! but that's it

No Hook is as dope a song as jay has ever done. What I love about jay is his gangsta shyt is never screamed or shouted, its always reasoned and persuaded.

Like Obama people are finally gonna appreciate jay. The nikka been missing and yall took that man for granted. People seen trump and clinton and feel bad for ever coming at Obama.

Reasonable Doubt 5mics
The Black Album 5 mics
Vol 1 5 mics
Blueprint 5 mics
American Gangster 4.5 mics
The Dynasty 4.5 mics
Watch The Throne 4.5 mics (jays contributions anyway)
BP2 4 mics
Vol 2 4 mics
Vol 3 4 mics
MCHG 4 mics ( the weak shyt is weak, but 3 or 4 joints really resonate with me)
BP3 3.5 mics
KC 3 mics.

my opinion :

1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Black Album
3. American Gangster
4. The Blueprint
5. Volume 1 : In My Lifetime

American Gangster is a 5 mic album. Lyrically, Production and Flow is top notch. Some days I put it over The Black Album and it's definitely Top 3 Jay albums of all time. This nikka's solo catalog is Gawdly

BTW Jay Z is the GOAT...idc what anyone say...

6. The Dynasty
7. Volume 2 : Hard Knock Life
8. Volume 3 : Life and Times of S.Carter
9. Magna Carter Holy Grail
10. The Blueprint 2
11. Kingdom Come
12. Blueprint 3

Left out Watch The Throne because it's a collaboration album.

Wrong, but AG is the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd's 5th best album & 1 of 6 classics :wow:

It's basically RD 2.0 & contains one of the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd's most brilliant performances especially lyrically :ohlawd:

The shyt he was spittin is on par with anything he's ever done even during his prime :whew:

The GOAT concept album &/or soundtrack & Hov's best post-prime solo project :blessed:

Agreed, his catalog is top 5 easily. I always wondered about the line in "All I Need", "Read the rap sheet nikka three classics". I wonder if he was referring to RD, Vol. 1, and BP, RD, Vol. 2, and BP, RD, Vol. 3, and BP, RD, Dynasty, and BP, you get the idea :lupe:
