The user submitted video idea is genius. Can have the apparel to go along with it. And take phrases from the videos to use on apparel

You dont even have to host the videos. Just get a WordPress theme for a video site with FB/YouTube video embeds. Put some Google ads around the embedded video.

as well as merch by amazon, you could also use print on demand services that do everything from print shirts to ship them to customers and give you a little more quality control in terms of shirt quality etc. than amazon does. they integrate with your site whether it's a shopify or woocommerce.

also i'd be careful with amazon and them having rights to your designs, etc. have a lawyer read their terms.
