I fondly remember one i met in the Chamblee tucker walmart.
i came to a line which i found out was closed, so i got in back of the next line.
he told me i can go in front of him so i started chopping it up
I: "did you put out a lot of fires today?"
he: for sure..blah blah, but we about to eat now. it's my turn to cook so i'm getting ingredients.

he had hella tattoos which i didn't think was firefighter style so i asked about them. he said he had a past.
i should've gave him my numbers, he was fine

My homeboy is NYFD and there is a lot going on. Historically NYFD has been majority Irish and Italian and was a good ol boys club. In recent years nyc has made a conscious effort to change that. Its still tough to get in especially if your black. The pay is good NYFD has the highest wages in the country with great benefits and pension. Rookies making 6 figures with overtime.

I hate corporate America, I rather do a job that keep me in shape and something I can be proud of. Saving nikkas and bytches is cool with me if that’s what I’m be know for doing as a career. I got the heart for it but that beyond the point.

It was an option if i got out... didn’t do it because I got hurt. But yeah, it depends on your area.
