The title is self-explanatory.
I don't plan on spending the majority of my 20s struggling, I'm not going to worry about paying rent, or mortgage, or school fees for children I wasn't ready for.
I'm not going to accrue a cent of debt outside of grad school loans, and I'm not going to take a lower-paying job because of "comfort" or "lifestyle."
By the time I'm my parents age, I'll have a safety-net large enough to catch me and about 20 others.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Even a lot of six figure income people are 6 months pay away from being assed out.

Average people who are considered financially "stable" can afford to save, BUT in a consumer driven economy they still have a lot of bills, so if the income suddenly stops, they are more than likely 2 months away from being in trouble.

Many don't, that's why we get caught of guard. About to be 25 in 3 weeks, and I'm at least being productive, but still got work to do before doing something serious like settling and having kids.

And remember, the government never forgets. They gon get paid

Good talk, but what actions are you going to take?
I'm likely going to graduate in 1-2 semesters, and I have a high LSAT score.
I'm going to a T-14 (more likely T-6) law school, and going directly into BigLaw, no "ifs, ands, or buts."
My LSAT score is high enough to qualify me for a few full-scholarships, and if not, I'm going to take the best financial-aid package.
When I start the job I'll lay low, live like a college student until my loans are paid off, and keep up my safe investments.
I don't plan on spending more than 50% of my salary a year, at least for the first 5 years.
If I have to live at home a year, I'll do that.

Unfortunately this is true

I thought i was going to be a millionaire by 25, when I was 18. Not that far removed.

I'm 24 with 2 kids and an internship barely scraping by

Now I'm not saying you're gonna be me.

But I don't consider myself an idiot and I got thrown way off track because of a couple of decisions I made that didn't seem too big of a deal at the time

Point is, don't get caught off guard. Never ever.

Sounds like a good plan.... Just be prepared to have a plan B if shyt doesn't flow right
Plan B is Accounting (I'll be taking my CPA exam later this year).
Plan C is Investment Banking (thank God for my major in Economics)
Plan D is Political Analyst (I'm interning at a firm now)
Plan E is TFA into a permanent teaching job (I can go one more year at Case and get my certificate to teach, alongside being able to student teach while I'm in school)

You've got the right mentality breh. Saving before spending is undoubtedly the skill that I wish I possessed coming out of college.

Put in that work and don't forget about networking and doing internships not to mention having a good relationship with your professors.
