I tried to get one of those apple credit cards too and some other one I forget it was a special offer I got in the mail.

Get a secured CC. Put a few hundred in the account, use it regularly and always pay it off. You'll have positive score shortly after.

try capital one to start, if they dont approve you they should offer you a secured card which will get you started. carry over a ballance of 5 percent every month, never, ever more, pay on time. after 3 full statement months ask for a CLI (credit limit increase) they will give it to you. monitor your score because it will go up. navy and apple let me do a pre qualification with out a hard pull and thats how i knew it was time to apply for a better card

How can I get started building my credit. I got some savings and my money is just sitting doing nothing for me.

Get a secure credit card. You give them a deposit of say $200 and that'll be used as collateral... hence the term "secure". I recommend the discover it card because it graduates to an unsecured card after 8-9 months of on time payment. Also you get 2% cash back on all purchases.

Only use the card to pay a cell phone bill and pay it off.

speaking form my experience its doesnt take much time. I got approved for a credit card 4 months ago, magaged that properley and a week ago got collections removed and BAM, 25k approval with an elite interest rate plus got a CLI on my first CC to 10k. dec 2020 nobody would approve me
