I saw the devil was the better film imo. The guy who played the Serial killer was well cast he did a great job dude was crazy as hell. The main character in The man from nowhere didn't really seem to give a shyt until the movie was half way over. As said above it didn't really pick up until the second half still was a good movie though.

Gotta go with "I Saw The Devil", but both movies are classic.

@Sutter Kane

The serial killer in "I Saw The Devil" was also Oh Dae-su in "Oldboy" and Mr. Baek in "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance".

I Saw The Devil was the better movie. Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one.

The Man From Nowhere is no joke, but it just lacked that extra layer. The protagonist is an anti-hero, but you don't get that sense that he's "become a monster while chasing one" like you do in ISTD. His character is just a little less interesting.

Also give The Chaser a try. Another Korean detective/revenge type movie. Ex-Cop becomes a pimp and has to track down the person that killed his whore. It's also on netflix.

These Korean revenge/detective/film-noir movies have been killing it over the last decade. It's a shame that black folks can't get their shyt together and start a mini film revolution like they have.

I saw the devil is one of the best movies I've seen in the last couple of years period...it was just so different in a no fukks given kind of way than 99% of trash coming out of hollywood. Plus the dude from old boy is an amazing actor, he killed it in this too. Don't get me wrong Man from nowhere is piff too...but I Saw the Devil is just on a whole nother level. Korea putting out some damn good stuff tho :myman:

:ohhh: this thread just reminded me...

my little brother bought me The Man From Nowhere on dvd for the christmas 2011 and in the February after it a friend of mine got out of jail and was asking to for a loan of a movie..my little brother pops up like Keenon Ivory Wayans in Don't Be A Menace and starts building up Man From Nowhere as if its crazy..i hadn't even watched it but i let him take it... i haven't seen the dvd since and i haven't seen him in about 8 months.

I Saw The Devil is a classic though.
