I appreciate it man. I hear it's people making some good money leaving out with the some of these jobs you can enlist.
Not necessarily either.

I think the average CEH certified or pentester makes about 70k

It all depends on your job, company, resume, location, etc. my friend was an IT on Navy submarines and doesn’t know shyt... I taught him everything in the Navy in fact.

He was my boss at my former company once I got out. He got a new gig at another company making 150k as IT manager.

I don’t want to be a manager and he’s a good shyt talker:yeshrug:

I’m more of a worker bee... I don’t want to be in charge of shyt. I don’t have 4 kids so I’m cool with 70k. My end goal is consulting really.. or working for a consulting firm

So it’s all relative in IT, but yes the higher level certs tend to pay more BUT... My mom for instance only has a CCNA and has been making over 100k for over a decade because she’s in Management :yeshrug:.

She doesn’t even have a bs degree, just worked her way their with experience and hard work, connections, etc. Went from help desk to management. She trains people and they enjoy working for her

And no, crypto and security jobs are definitely not limited to government. Shipboard crypto is defferent too, so don’t get that confused. I would also say don’t chase the money chase what you enjoy doing.

Above the fray.
:mjlol:
Congratulations bruh but retake that bytch. I got like a 75 on my first take then 90 average on the second take. Could get any job I wanted in the air ForceStill ended up flightline fighter avionics somehow :mjcry:

Wait, is OP false flagging (for lack of a better term)?hahahahaha

If you don't mind me asking, the 90 score places you in what percentile of those tested?
Here's a (long) story and the reason I'm asking.

My cousin got married years back. The woman's younger brother came a year later to go to school here. We used to call him the Smart Guy, because he looked like an older version of the tv show character, and he was an exceptionally intelligent kid. Their (his wife) entire family was well accomplished and intelligent people. My cousin, eventually got tired of them rubbing their intelligence in his face, so he starts slipping in the "smart ones" in our family (myself and one of our uncles).

My cousin's brother in law is competive kid. His SAT scores come back and apparently he did well. So now, he's looking for me.....at family functions, naming ceremonies,cookouts....for the obvious reason, he wants to compare SAT scores. He's sending word like he's Ali, I'm ducking him like Joe Frazier.
Coincidentally, I had gotten some letter from Mensa around the same time. It showed the standardized test scores and which tests pre-qualified for membership. Something interesting though....for certain tests...the cutoff score was different based on the year of the exam. Indicating that the difficulty of the test had changed a few times. The score that qualified as being in the nth percentile changed with the year the test changed. This was my first time hearing that....and it gave me my out, in case the young boy had a higher score than I did.

Saw him at a graduation, told him my score first and which percentile that placed me. He told me his score, which was higher, but he didn't know the percentile. Told him to get back at me with that number.
After some major plea copping by me ......he accepted defeat.

Nothing wrong with CS Chiefs:dahell:
That’s exactly what I’m saying. Depending on rank, we all get paid the same while we’re IN. That’s why I laugh at nikkas who think they better than another rate/MOS, but end up making the same as them.

Took the Asvab my senior year just because loved killing standardized tests and just had recently got my CAT scores back scoring in the 99% in 4 areas and 99.9 percentile in 1. Mom's still has that shyt at home. I'd boast about my ASVAB but no one here would believe me anyways. Just wish I was more focused on aeronautics in high school, then I would've had the foresight to get a congressional backing for the Navel Academy rather than going to Purdue for my undergrad.
Congrats to all taking it and looking to make a career in the military. Use your opportunities to the best of your abilities when it comes to training, certs and education in general. Understand, while others are paying for that knowledge, you are now getting it for free in a way. We in the civilian world in aeronautics would rather hire someone fresh out over someone coming out of school for experience alone.
Even if you end up a mechanic on the flightline or in avionics in the military it's not that bad. Airlines are running short of mechanics and avionics personnel right now and were throwing out some good packages to guys fresh out the military.
