Russ was a good college player that people doubted because of his height.

Cole was a good mixtape rapper people doubted because he wasn’t street and had no gimmick.

Russ ended up being drafted by the Seahawks with a HOF coach and all time defense that quickly allowed him to flourish and have success.

Cole got signed by a HOF rapper in Jayz that allowed to adjust to the industry and flourish.

Russ ended up winning a Super Bowl and have a long successful career but he was always a corny guy people never fully got behind and while elite was always below guys like Brady and Rodger’s and at the end his terrible play and being moved to different teams had almost played him out of the HOF and spoiled all the good that came before.

Cole ended up dropping some dope albums and having a long successful career but was always a corny guy people never fully got behind and was while elite was always behind guys like Kendrick and Cole, and his pump fake diss and apology to Kendrick then continually pushing back his album has nearly played him out of the HOF and spoiled all the good that came before l.

Drake wasn't street and had no gimmick during his mixtape run. Cole wasn't doubted during his mixtape run like that. Friday Night Lights was held in high regard, as were his previous tapes by those who knew of him early. Doubt was always about how his rollout would go.

Cole being corny was mostly a internet take. At his peak, he was only below Drake in popularity, but so was everyone else. Cole was beloved by the millennial crowd who was in college/transitioning to the professional world when he first came out and they propelled him to stardom and touring dominance. The "big 3" was a thing because Cole was legitimately at that level and not a weak link in that group. He fukked up by running from the battle, but he'll easily do crazy numbers whenever he drops next. Russ seems genuinely hated while nikkas just seem disappointed in Cole.

Honestly, Big Sean is a better Russ Wilson comp, and even that's not a great one. I'd say Meek as far as the career trajectory works better.

Cole has progressively put out better albums and improved as a rapper. Am I still disgusted by his beef performance, especially the apology? Yes. But at the end of the day his last album was really good, and I'd imagine the next one will be good. Did he kind of seal his fate in 2nd or 3rd place, depending on how you view Drake? Sure. But at the end of the day we're talking about three rappers who accomplished a lot of shyt that may not be accomplished by anyone who comes after. At least not anytime soon.

(How I personally view Drake is not being taken into account here, I'm just talking historical views)

Cole turning down the lyrical fade is the exact as Russ getting that big ass contract with Denver and being cut after like 1 season. Russ was gone “cook” and Cole was finally going to verbally kill all the MCs he been talking about for years. Both flopped on the big stage.

Cole career really like Game of Thrones tho, GOT was a one of the GOAT shows of its era maybe even all time and the last season and the ending was so bad people dnt even mention it anymore. It completely wiped away all the good shyt of the first few seasons. Same as Cole, once he apologized nobody even gave a damn about his career anymore. He went from one of the GOATs of his era to not even mentioned at all. Im sure he will still do good numbers on his next project just like House of Dragons still do good but the “brand” will never be the same. Both went from potential GOATs to just good. Culturally they won’t ever be “Relevant” they was before they dropped the ball.

Day 1 Cole fans would tell u his albums has gotten worse :manny:

His mixtapes and first few albums was the best work he did.

He just got more mainstream attention and appeal but that dnt mean better.

That's a terrible analogy considering that one was willingly by choice and the other one was completely washed and Seattle knew it.

I'm a day 1 Cole fan who slowly fell out of interest based on his albums. His first album is weak as fukk, and his second album isn't much better. FHD is his best album to most people, then they hate on 4YEO which is his most interesting album. KOD was solid and then Off Season was great.

Cole is talented but hes always dropped underwhelming albums.

Hes never done anything equivalent to winning a Super Bowl.
