I can't tell you how many times I go to people's homes, and the kids are just watching cartoons, or playing games on tablets.
Food has a lot to do with it as well. A lot of kiddie foods are processed, and processed foods and sugar make it more difficult to focus.

Bruh it’s this Chinese spot in a shopping center near my subdivision. No matter what time of year or time of day I go in there the owners have their little kids sitting out front doing school work from a workbook or the computer. They prioritize education for their children

I did that when I was child. I had a computer and all the gaming systems. Still excelled in school and played sports as well. Thats not the problem. It boils down to what the adults find to be a priority and thats it. education was a priority then I could have fun with the other shyt.

We're home schooling our 5 year old for kindergarten later this year. I don't trust this system with my seed BUT the parents have to be active as hell. Me and my wife are very active. My wife's background is education. We have educational shyt all over the walls for our boy. Even when he watches tv we will have the closed caption on for him to identify his sight words. As I've said having 2 parents is divine. The children will ultimately suffer because of their ineptitude. Oakland public schools were the worst experience of my life. Some years later, I remember having conversation with some fam. We talked about high school n shyt. One thing we spoke on was the Asian kids and how they stuck together and would be in the court yard studying n shyt, while the niccas was arguing over turf, tennis and bytches. Well when graduation time came, they got all the scholarships and them same niccas didn't graduate. I refuse to let my seed attend school in an environment like that. If I do, I've failed my boys. When it comes to old girl with her seed, she probably doesn't understand the needs of her child. This is just one of the many dangers of single parents that aren't prepared to raise a seed. No foundation at all. God help us

There's a community of families in my wife's bible study fellowship that homeschool. And the children get their socialization skills through spending time out with other children. They do all kinds of stuff

I can spend 3 hours teaching them what a verb, noun or how to turn a mixed fraction into a improper one and they'll look at me crazy. Ask them to sing to me the newest Lil Baby or NBA Youngboy song and they do it with no errors
And the parents continue to throw the blame on others instead of themselves

A lot of people are saying the same thing. Parents have to buy into educating the child outside of school as well. You cant rely on just the school to do it all, even if the school is doing it well. Parents have to show an interest that goes beyond the results at report card time. This also keeps the schools accountable. When your child is being educated on all fronts, the school knows that you will keep your foot on their neck because you know your shyt and so does your child.
And you dont have to be a genius either. Ask your child to explain his/her homework to you. That mere act encourages critical thinking, reinforces conversational skills and gets them talking about school at home, not just doing homework. You as an adult may still have no clue how to do the hw, but you just practiced a lot of other skills.
