They're obviously looking in the wrong place. Gradual decompression most likely happened(see the 2005 Greek plane crash) and the pilots noticed at the last moment and tried to turn the plane around and reset the auto-pilot for it to go back to Malaysia. Pilots and passengers became unconscious due to a lack of oxygen whilst the plane headed back, communication was lost, Malaysian military panicked and shot it down(1988 Air Iran flight that was shot down by Americans) Now they're trying to cover it up which is why their search has appeared to be slow and comically incompetent.
You really think any country wants to reveal that they shot down a plane carrying a handful of Chinese citizens?
If they haven't carried out the rest of their plan by now I'd assumed that portion of the plan got fukked up, so no point in claiming responsibility now. Probably, just try again.

Yeah its leaning toward this for sure.. I don't want to jump into the conspiracy zone but there's way too much tech out there these days for this to happen at all. Hell for all we know this plane could've landed on a small private strip on a remote island. as of right now the possibilities are endless. You mean to tell me the CIA, NSA, MI6, etc with their vast resources don't know where this plane is?
These entities usually know everything.. but they only react or take action if its beneficial to them or not
could be man. if someone pulled this shyt off, they'd have to be VERY calculated about it. meaning that they'd have to subdue all of the passengers and take their phones/ipads/tablets so they cant be pinged/tracked. Then, the equipment that lets you do wifi in flight would have to be disabled as well. Also, the engines transmit signals about their health intermittently, so those engine transponders would have to be shut off. Then theres, the communication equipment in the cockpit, data recorders and the plane's beacon, which should be activated in the event the plane goes down. When that beacon goes off, they can locate the plane within hours.
also, what about the private satellites (Google, etc) that do mapping services? how do you evade them. I would think that would be one of the first places of data to look and easily spot the plane going off course. Feels like an inside thing involving the pilots because the so called hijackers would already have their hands full disarming the passengers and rounding up their phones/tablets etc. And they would have to quadruple check to make sure no one stashed an iPhone in their ass crack or something. I dunno, maybe they released some kind of knockout gas in the HVAC/pressurization system to knock out the passengers in one batch, but like I said, this shyt would take planning.
