Look. Autotune as it was. shyt was a dub for a lil bit. If u remember how literally everybody and they mama was on some corny pop autotune shyt at one point. If u really was old enough to remember the climate. U would understand that. Jay didn’t stop shyt but the nikkas who was dominant with it at the time for the most part. Young nikkas came in and brought that shyt more life and added more of a street edge to it. It never technically went anywhere tho. theres several reasons DOA was made.

one, Jay was trying to flex his cool factor/influence in the game. he misjudged it.
two, because of two men and one of them doesn't even use autotune.. EtherBoy himself and Jim Jones. on BP3, Jay is at Jim and Dame's necks.

three...another factor that plays into Jay's anti autotune thing. Jay was very into expanding his musical palette at the time.
he was popping up and watching Grizzly Bear, MGMT, Empire of The Sun etc shows at the time, the album cover had all the instruments on it.

or he recorded a bunch of autotune related songs (which Kanye said he did) and they were was bad so he had to rebel at his big age.

The only people that actually took Jay’s advice with autotune were Ron Browz and vets that should’ve never been using it anyway. Other than that, it continued to be a staple. It never went away and grew overtime to the massive over-saturation that it’s at right now. I remember this in real time. Autotune was continuing to be the go-to thing coming out of Lil’ Wayne’s initial rise along with that one and two hit wonder era of people like Jibbs and VIC. I vividly remember this in my last 2-3 years in college. You dudes simply have shoddy memories.
