It wasnt dumb. He wasnt going to do much else of anything in New Japan. They would have never made him heavyweight. It was really his only real money move. One of the dumbest decisions ever. But like you said, Hopefully the money was big enough for him to be ok with it.
I never know who most of these guys are before they make it to the big league
So i gotta ask...was he a big deal in Japan?

being on 'Main Event' once a quarter .The Jr Heavyweight division was his for as long as he wanted it though. Probably would have gone down as the undisputed GOAT Jr Heavyweight had he stayed. It wasnt dumb. He wasnt going to do much else of anything in New Japan. They would have never made him heavyweight. Kushida was pretty much New Japan's "Ace" of the Junior Heavyweight divisionI never know who most of these guys are before they make it to the big league

He’s been in NXT what 3 years now? Aside from that very brief reunion with Shelley I can’t recall anything that he has done.
They didn’t start running the division til after he left though. Especially Hiromu.Over Hiromu? Taiji? Nah he hit his ceiling. He would have been El Samurai status this year
