I suspect a co-worker of going into my office drawer and taking personal documents...

this,

why dont your drawers lock?

Leave some fake HIV+ test results around

Also I dont understand why your boss was so non chalant about it. I would be concerned if I had an employee who was snooping in other peoples stuff and possibly my shyt too :damn:

Only thing you can really do is start taking it with you or set someone up..

LOL

I'm guessing cause my boss has to manage 50 attorneys along with non-attorney staff, that she's on some "Unless you have some conclusive proof about it, there's not really much I can do" I never told my boss who I suspected since I didn't have rock solid evidence. And though my reputation is that I'm very meticulous and extremely well-organized, from her perspective she can't be certain that I didn't lose the documents myself, she even asked me that to which I responded "I'm 99.9% certain I didn't, before I left work I made sure they were in my desk, next day they were gone."

She can't accuse people on a hunch and my boss is cool as fukk with me.

As far as setting someone up...I kinda took steps, the night before I approached my boss I put a small piece of scotch tape and two pennies on the sides of the drawer, so that if opened normally the pennies would fall off the sides. The next day the tape was torn off and the pennies were on the floor (rug - makes small sound when dropping).

I can't prove it but I'll give you a bit of background info:

I work at a law-firm with all lawyers, this particular one is her 60's, a Senior attorney and suffers from obsessive compulsive speaking. That's right, she is an obsessive compulsive talker on the level of nothing I've ever seen before in my life (and I've come across many a motor-mouths in my day).

But unfortunately, that's not the problem (ironically enough). You see, she comes across as a sweet-heart with a great sense of humor, thing is, she speaks disparagingly about everyone, when they're not in the room!!! She speaks so ill on everyone yet when they are in the same room, she treats them like family :wtf:

It's the biggest Jekyll and Hyde flip I've ever seen. As far as work goes, I'm not anti-social, but I'm very low-key. I don't really engage in office-gossip, although I know it's a reality of life at an office. However, this lady takes it to a whole new level, and not only that...she's tried several times to throw me under the bus and stick the knife in my back. Unfortunately for her, she's always failed and sometimes it even back-fires. She acts like such a child and her boss, who's my boss as well...treats me with way more respect than her - yet I'm 30 plus years younger. But I carry myself like an adult, she on the other-hand is a uber-gossip-whore, who acts like a child and has to be told to shut the fukk up by the big boss when we are trying to get work done. She breaks confidences to all those she calls friends, I know so much personal sh!t about people that I don't care to know smh.

Now, a dime who works in my office lost her luggage at the airport, this snake I work with had the nerve to jokingly say "You're beautiful, I guess God balances everything out". She's so vindicatively evil behind peoples' backs, yet so warm and friendly to their faces. Now I suspect her of trying to sabatoge my potential promotion by stealing my project-work related to it.

So, yesterday we were working and I decided to strike back...our boss walks into the room and I asked my boss if she could step outside to discuss something with me (Something I've never done in 5 years). The snake-lady clams up as we leave the room. When I get back into the room, for the first time in 5 years her obsessive compulsive talking ceases and she completely chokes up with nothing to say....at all. Not even a "Is everything all right?" - you figure if you didn't do anything wrong, and you're co-worker of 5 years, leaves the room with the head boss, at the very least you're going to ask "You iight?". Especially an inquisitive, nosey, snoopy, blabber-mouth like her. Instead she was silent and stiff and most of all....scared looking just like this ---> :merchant:

20 minutes later, she offers me discount passes to the bronx zoo for my kids...meanwhile she ain't never offered me shyt before. I looked at her like this :birdman: and said "Thanks for the offer". And like I said, she's stabbed me in the back several times over the last few years...all the while, I've covered her ass (only cause I won't stoop down to a snake's level...I stand by my ethics).

I work an internship with legal counsel for a talent agency and I'm 100% grounded (I humbly opine) that lawyers have a really, really strong tendency to be extremely OCD, detail oriented, paranoid, suspicious, and often border on becoming full-on sociopaths. It can be extremely unbearable with the way they talk and treat people they feel are above or below them and even in they way that they interact in their personal relationships.

I can relate to this story. Not really sure why you told it, but if you wanted to vent, I totally understand.

write in capital letters: HEY NOSY WOMAN, I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN SNOOPING THROUGH MY SH1T AND NOW THAT YOU'RE READING THIS I HAVE EVIDENCE!

come in the next day and watch her reaction. she'll probably call out sick. if she doesn't, her behavior will tell a story.

You hit the nail on the head, both with your description of lawyers and on my need to vent.

The whole situation had me like this :leostare: the past few days.

u will know by her reaction.

u can go different route.

u can leave the username/password of an account in that drawer. if she's as snaky as u say she is, she will most definitely use it and try to log in to the account to see what you're up to.

now, talk about proof. u should be able to prove someone other than u logged into so and so account....from so and so IP address. that's about the only proof u can ever have...absent of a camera.

so considering u said she's over 60 years old, i highly doubt she knows what the fucck an ip address is or that visitors to a site can be tracked.

The only advice I have in these types of matters is to fukk' em up, but I'm guessing that's out of the question?

Nah, I'm trying live a righteous life and plus I don't like the unemployment lines.

But that was one of the good things about being a wild youth, you could settle problems out in the open, transparently. Something inherently honest about violence.

I like the motion triggered webcam idea...catch the bytch on camera!

I have to agree with this... but based on her reaction to you giving her the :birdman:... I would just say keep on making situations just a little uncomfortable for her... (nothing thats noticeable to your boss)... to the point where she knows whats up.
