Just listened to this shyt and I barely made it through. shyt is just too much, it's overbearing. Then I realized that I don't fukk with fast rappers, if I hear someone like Joyner rap I will immediately switch it off. I prefer Roc Marciano, Benny's and the Conway's, I feel like rappers who rap fast though they may be rapping dope shyt they use it to compensate for their lack of content sometimes. If you don't do all the fast shyt it forces you to be lyrical

I absolutely agree. It’s cool when used sparingly but if that’s all you got then it’s a hard pass for me. My favorite rappers were JayZ, Jeezy, DMX, Wayne, Nas, Ross. I much prefer a dope story, some ill lines, or some hustle/boss shyt than anything else.

Yea exactly man. It's like just spare me all the theatrics I prefer real gems and witty talk in the verse. "I heard motherfukkers saying they made Hov. made Hov say okay so make another Hov" . That bar alone kills anything Joyner or Token or Hopsin or any of these 100mph nikkas ever said.

I think it speaks to your personality lowkey too. I got a breh is real heavy on that fast rap shyt always telling me listen to Hopsin and shyt and he's a pretty anxious, indecisive alot of times, always rushing shyt, even drives fast. I got a laid back personality so maybe they're related idk. It's interesting

Some artist can rap fast and still make dope records like twista& bone for example. JID actually nice & He do slow it down.

I can listen to Bone and 3-6 but I never really felt it when artists go out of their lane to rap fast

one of my favorite all time joints

I've always had a love hate relationship with "fast rapping".

I liked Twista, but didn't care for the fast rapping dude in the Fu-Schnickens. Busta would be hit or miss when he did it. Bone did it well for the most part.

I guess it depends on the track and the artist. I did not care for the song in the OP.

For one, song in OP is trash and not a good example of good or natural double time rap, especially from Cole.

If it's not your base style it should be used in spurts, if it is your base style, you should spend a little time on each project or maybe a whole project doing something different.

Twista on his first album rapped at a more standard speed and maybe it's because of the novelty of that fact but it's one of his best albums. I always felt like he would have a more memorable catalog if he had more variance.

Speeding all of that up doesn't make that any less impressive/dope. But it does make it harder to catch if you're an active listener (a lot of nikkas just want background music) and are trying to process and appreciate everything.

The double time flow has become the cheat code for mediocre rappers who can't consistantly flow on beat.

Yeah and I hate how nikkas nowadays think if you rap like that you a top tier lyricist. I value delivery over the lyrics anyway, and i'd take somebody like Earl over J.I.D anyday.
