Hip hop didn't come from reggae or a reggae dj....Kool Herc didn't spin any jamaican music whatsoever, nor did he have a jamaican djing style. Pete Dj Jones didnt, either. Reggae came from Jamaicans imitating 1950s R&B artists. Dancehall is an offshoot of funk, nowadays more inspired by hip hop than the other way around. Flat, same drum pattern. Good music but you can't compare two subgenres based off of black American music to two FULL GENRES straight from the black american consciousness.
