I think the actor playing the convict adlibbed the racial slur, and that might be Eddie's genuine reaction.

When Eddie Murphy fell off......again after Nutty Proessor the films he made were unwatchable...that guru bullshyt, this film, etc....it was a sad time.

Eddie has unlimited comic acting talent, but he got handed some bullshyt scripts.
