I think ending a match with a "finisher" is overrated

Bret faking injury and trapping Diesel in the small package to win the title is another:whew:

this & other surprise finishes are predicated on top notch storytelling within the match...if that isn't apart of the match, then the roll up/surprise victory comes off bad

I don't mind it, as long as you do an actual finish. The ending of the match should be structured and built like the person could have hit the finisher for the win in spot of the rollup. I hate when one dude is getting heat then the other just gets the rollup. Like you wouldn't just hit your finisher out of that spot (normally) and get a pin so why do rollup finishes like that. Just totally flat.

Thought there was a good rollup finish on Dynamite this week actually.

Bret Hart used to do them shyts perfectly, how can you hate the roll up

Bret was the "Excellence of Execution" for a reason. And anything used in excess can become a negative. Not to mention, the business has also evolved for better or worse. Those random roll up pins on television or PPV to protect the loser feel cheap and overused 90% of the time. It's become a meme over the last few years and is mocked as the most devastating finisher in the business.

Worst thread I’ve seen in a while

nikka said roll ups

Coli continues to remain bizzaro world. Guys are actually campaigning for more of them than there are already are. :mindblown:

My favorite kind of finishes are the ones you dont see coming, like a roll up pin, or a high impact move that you don't believe someone can kick out from,[/B] The problem with wrestling these days is I see too many high impact moves that should wipe out the opponent and a finisher is not needed and not enough roll up out of nowhere pins

dont get me wrong a finisher like the Stone Cold Stunner, Pedigree, etc or a submissiom is still dope but every match shouldn't be necessary
Early 90's WCW style. I loved it!

I think ending matches without a finisher is a good way to train your audience that a match can end at any time

which makes things more exciting and leads to less predictable matches.

i've seen periods where promotions have done this, but it's been a while where it was something that happened consistently. we more in the multi finisher era if anything now.

1 ain't enough for a real big time match, everybody gotta do 2-3 to put someone away when it's not a regular ass jobber on TV.

No lie the Abadon/Baker match is a good example of a finish that made sense.

Abadon was a entire demon throughout the match and for her to lose by the Claw or the curb stomp would kill that element of fear.

Then Dean Malenko is probably your favorite wrestler ever and I respect it. :ehh:

These idiots in wrestling are too far gone and have fully embraced phoniness. These idiots still put people in arm bars and triangle chokes where the guy doesnt tap for three minutes. Like the entire world doesn't know you're tapping instantly if those moves are put on you. Once mma got huge alot of shyt shoulda changed in pro wrestling

First I was going to disagree.

But it does add some spontaneity when finishers aren't the end of the match.

I think that's why they went to ppl kicking out of finishers.

But generally, the finisher is something ppl want to see so you have to do it. Can't have Brock Lesnar doing a roll up and winning

I really like Darby Allin's roll up..it looks legit hard to get out of and he hits it out of nowhere...one of the few surprise moments for me with matches in recent times.
Especially with his size. It seems believable and makes sense how he wins matches against bigger opponents.
